Episode 1: Exploring the archives at Wheal Martyn

After a busy three weeks of induction and training, Si begins to prepare for his first ever museum exhibition focusing on stories from Clay Country Villages. Here we see him unearthing some of the more unusual stories from the extensive archives at Wheal Martyn Clay Works.



Episode 2: Copyright Forum at Krowji

In his 5th week as Trainee Curator, Si visits Krowji for the Cornwall Museums Partnership Copyright Forum and resolves some issues for the upcoming Clay Villages exhibition. On 31st October (Halloween), we said farewell to a volunteer and a held a tea party in a shipping container…as you do!



Episode 3: Clay Villages Showcase Research

In week 8, we see Si researching stories for his first ever showcase exhibition to be displayed in the Atrium at Wheal Martyn. We take a look behind the scenes at some collection items which have been moved to temporary storage and discuss the associated environmental factors. You can also see him setting up for a film night in our cosy and atmospheric café.



Episode 4: Exhibition Installation and Cornish Object of the Year

In the latest instalment of the Diary of a Trainee Curator, we see Si install his first exhibition: Clay Stories - unearthing stories from our villages and towns. We also see his contribution to reaching the shortlist for Cornish Object of the Year with the Spirit of Ecstasy hood ornament and Molochite mould. We catch up with progress on the movement of objects to temporary storage and see the snow falling at the museum on the 31st January.
