A brand-new small-scale opera by Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, inspired by the legend of the Knockers, presented in a double bill with local music artists, talks and discussion.

Set in 1965 and the present-day, Fault Lines is a mining story about friendship, our relationship with place and the power of nature.

Designed especially for intimate and informal spaces, the audience will experience the story up close and be invited to join in with folk songs and tunes at key moments of the piece. These will be taught before the show by ear, and musicians in the audience will be encouraged to bring an instrument to play.

Each show will be presented as a double bill with a programme rooted in each place, including music by local artists, talks, and hosted discussions around the ideas and themes of the piece.  At a wake in the back room of a pub, a storyteller calls the assembled mourners to attention.  They raise a glass to the deceased, much loved husband, father and friend, Joe but as he begins the eulogy, a deeper story emerges….
