October 6 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Come and take part in Wheal Martyn’s first Fun Palace on Saturday 6 October, 1 to 3pm for community led fun!
Our Fun Palace is all about celebrating Cornish community and culture through a mixture of activities which we hope will interest everyone. Our Fun Palace will begin at 1pm with Imery’s singers performance where visitors will be encouraged to sing along or have a boogie. You will then be able to make your way around the various activity stations, from decorating a cake in our ‘Clay Country Bake Off Show Stopper’, to learning about wildlife photography from Kevin Bowers, to decorating a Clay Tile to add to our mini exhibition. Cornwall Wildlife Trust will also be here giving advice about how to protect Cornwall’s wildlife and giving out bug hunts.
We also wanted to connect with other fabby Fun Palaces across the UK. Starting at 2pm Wheal Martyn volunteers will be sharing their own personal stories about the clay industry with volunteers from Liverpool and Stoke-on-Trent in a virtual ‘chat’. The virtual chat will focus on the importance of clay for these communities, whether this was the extraction of clay (Cornwall), transport of clay (Liverpool) or using clay in production of ceramics (Stoke-on-Trent). The discussion will be projected on a large screen to allow other visitors to get involved with the discussion. We are also hoping to live stream the chat via our Facebook page – so if you are unable to visit us on the day, make sure you check this out!
We hope to see you on the day!
