We are hosting a Fun Palace on Saturday 5th October, 1.00pm – 3.00pm.
Fun Palaces is a campaign for cultural democracy, promoting culture at the heart of community and community at the heart of culture. Fun Palaces is an international event that is FREE and for all the family.
Activities at Wheal Martyn will be led by local people for local people, sharing their passions and skills, with active participation for all ages. We have reached out to the local community and asked any ‘makers’ to join the Fun Palace event to share their skills.
Gemma Martin, ‘Lead Maker’ at Wheal Martyn, said, “We are so pleased to have such a lovely range of people joining us to offer activities and share their expertise. We have ‘Makers’ who are professional artists, local CiCs and young enthusiasts! We do have space for more, so if you would like to share your interest with others, please do get in touch.”
The Fun Palace at Wheal Martyn will offer taster sessions, workshops, performances and hands-on activities. There will be a Zentangle workshop with Wheal Martyn’s Social Prescribing Group; Paper Arts with Ruth Hill; a Clay Workshop with local artists Lynne and Suzie; a Van Gogh masterclass with an aspiring young artist; planting and growing workshops with Perennial Harvest; pop-up dance and singing performances and lots more.
This year we are delighted to have the support of Feast funding to help with some of the resources for the free activities on offer. Gemma Martin said, “This kind contribution really helps us to offer something new that will bring some new faces to our local museum, connecting our community and starting new conversations”.
So if you fancy trying something new or just like the idea of being part of the Fun Palace excitement across the country, head to Wheal Martyn for 1.00pm on Saturday 5th October. The Fun Palace activities are FREE and outside the museum pay point. Museum entry applies for a museum visit. For more information, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 01726 850362.
