Visit Wheal Martyn this Easter for a jam-packed two weeks of children’s activities.
This Easter, we are celebrating all things ceramic! Join local artists Suzy Johnson and Lyn Simms in our Artyology Ceramics Workshop on Monday 8 April and make your own clay pot or tile inspired by your visit to Wheal Martyn.
Come along for Easter pottery painting on 9 and 17 April and choose from bunny shaped money banks, chick egg cups or egg tealights, or make and decorate your own fantasy eggs on 10 and 18 April. Drop in on 11 and 15 April and decorate a ceramic tile to brighten our facilities in January 2020, and leave your lasting mark at Wheal Martyn.
Join Badger Forest School for outdoor Easter fun in the woods on 12 April, and be a hands-on critic of a new exhibition at the museum on 13 April with a new Museum Club activity, Hear My Voice. On 14 and 19 April, join in the fun and create your very own clay face on one of our trees using items you have foraged for in the woods, and have a go at clay modelling on 16 April: from Easter baskets to leaf bowls and waterwheels, the possibilities are endless. Finally, get creative fashioning your own Easter bunny headbands on 20, 21 and 22 April.
Nikita Brown, Exhibition and Engagement Officer said, ‘We are celebrating the ceramics industry this Easter and there is so much for the whole family to do. From pottery painting to making your own fantasy eggs, you will find something to suit all ages and preferences. These activities have been developed as part of our Clay Works project with funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund, Arts Council England and a range of other organisations including support from Imerys Minerals Ltd. We are really looking forward to welcoming local artists Suzy Johnson and Lyn Simms in their Artyology Ceramics workshop on Monday 8 April. Spaces are limited for this workshop, so please make sure you book in advance.’
