February 2022

Explore your local heritage at Wheal Martyn this February half term with our exciting new activities programme, inspiring exhibitions and beautiful outdoor grounds.

Get creative with clay from Monday 21st to Friday 25th February; unleash your family’s painting, making and creating skills with hands-on activities inspired by the story of china clay mining in Cornwall. Bring home your very own hand-crafted clay miner at the end of the day, and know all about the history and stories behind it.

As you wander around the museum and grounds, follow the new ‘People of the Industry’ trail by spotting life size cut outs of clay workers and delving into their history as you find them.

On 19th and 26th February, join performer, storyteller and artist Jane Pugh for a guided walk followed by a fun, creative workshop.

Don’t forget to pick up your Cornwall Residents Pass when you visit us. Available until 31 March, it’s your last chance to enjoy a year of visits to Wheal Martyn for a discounted rate of just £8.00 per adult and £5.00 per child. The pass includes free re-admission for 12 months, with children under five going free. Visiting throughout the year enables you to explore the changing exhibitions in the fresh new gallery space, and outside, experience the atmospheric and picturesque woodlands as the seasons change.

The cosy café in the historic grounds now benefits from a new heating system, providing the perfect setting for a lovely cup of tea, tasty treat or hearty meal. It’s also dog friendly, so your four-legged friends can accompany you after a good walk!
