Do you live in Cornwall? From now until 31 March 2020, we are offering discounted annual admission to anyone resident in Cornwall, enabling people from the local community to make repeat visits throughout the year (which promises to be an exciting one!)

Not only can you enjoy the unique site throughout the changing seasons, but you will also be able to explore new facilities, opening during the year. Most importantly, you will be able to reconnect with an important part of Cornish heritage, china clay mining; this industry has relevance to everyone, whether it be through working in the industry, family connections, or simply using products which contain china clay mined in Cornwall.

2020 marks 200 years of mining at Wheal Martyn, the opening of new facilities and new exhibitions, as well as a varied activities programme. Renowned artist Kurt Jackson will be exhibiting new work in his exhibition ‘Clay Country’, which will run from 3 April to 5 July. There will also an opportunity to discover more about Cornish Mining World Heritage, with brand new interpretation being installed later in the year. These are just a few great reasons to get your Cornwall Residents’ Pass now at a reduced price, so that you can return to Wheal Martyn throughout this milestone year.

Wheal Martyn, located in the heart of Cornwall’s Clay Country (just two miles north of St. Austell), is set within two preserved Victorian clay works, and tells the story of the china clay industry, its workforce and surrounding communities. The china clay industry has dramatically shaped the landscape and lives of people across Cornwall, and further afield; we all use products containing china clay in our everyday lives – ceramics, paper, rubber, paint and toothpaste – to name just a few!

Admission for Cornwall residents until 31 March is just £7.50 per adult and £5.00 per child, while children under 5 go free. This includes free re-admission for 12 months. All you need to do is show proof of address to purchase your annual ticket. Alternatively, an annual admission can also be given as a gift.
