This summer we are offering an Arts Award Programme for young people age 11+ to complete either their Bronze or Silver Arts Award with Wheal Martyn.

Participants will take part in a series of workshop days where they will:

  • get creative and take part in arts activities
  • explore the work of an artist and gain an insight into the professional arts world
  • experience an arts event
  • develop creative and communication skills, working in a team and presenting to others

How will the Programme be delivered?

Our experienced Education Officer, who is an Arts Award Adviser, will deliver the workshop days. Participants will need to attend all the dates for their chosen level of Arts Award in order to complete the necessary activities.  There will be some additional tasks to undertake at home, to support the core activities delivered in the workshops, including building the Arts Award Portfolio..

The dates for the Bronze and Silver Workshop Days are detailed below. Participants will need to attend all dates for their chosen award level. (Activities may vary from description in order to match the needs of the Arts Award)

Assessment

At the end of the course, participants will need to submit a completed Portfolio of Evidence in a digital format. Help and support will be provided throughout the Programme to ensure that appropriate evidence is gathered for the portfolio.  Portfolios will then be assessed against the Arts Award Criteria and then sent for moderation.  This process can take several months, but once completed, successful participants will receive their award certificate.

Support and Supervision

The Arts Award Programme offers young people the opportunity to build their independence, to work well in small teams with their peers and develop communication skills. During the workshop sessions at Wheal Martyn, parents/carers can leave the young people under the supervision of the Education Officer.  However, parents/carers will need to make their own arrangements to supervise the young people for the lunch break on each workshop date.

The young people will need to undertake some work at home and in their own time. This independent work will require self-motivation and organisation, as well as some IT skills to complete an arts portfolio in a digital format (e.g. Word, PDF, Google Sites or similar).

Register for a place

The cost of the Arts Award Programme includes all the workshop sessions and the moderation fee (currently £27 for Bronze, £36 for Silver)

£100 per young person for Bronze

£150 per young person for Silver

A bit more about our Arts Award Programme

Who is this for? Young people aged approximately 11 to 18 years.

Bronze Arts Award is a Level 1 Award in the Arts in the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), designed for ages 11 and above.
