Celebrating 25 years of achievements in art, a new exhibition, ‘CLAYWORKS’, marks this milestone for Jenny Beavan and Stuart Thorn at Wheal Martyn Clay Works.

Jenny and Stuart have pursued many artistic connections to the china clay industry over the years and this exhibition fittingly celebrates their achievements at the UK’s only china clay mining museum.

The artists have worked on bespoke commercial commissions, participated in Cookworthy’s 300th anniversary with a touring international exhibition, and undertaken on-site residences. They both contributed to the launch of ‘CRAFT’, which was initiated to change perceptions of Cornwall in 1998.

Sian Powell, Exhibition and Engagement Officer at Wheal Martyn, said: “We are very excited to work with Jenny and Stuart on a large exhibition showcasing and celebrating their artistic relationship to the china clay landscape over the last 25 years.”

The exhibition is on display in the museum’s Roger Preston Gallery until Monday 10 July. Entry to the exhibition is included within normal museum admission.
